ANCHORPERSON:

State police have called off the intense search for producer Robin Morales of television's "Case Unsolved". Morales was researching a story about the famed haunted house in the small town of Harley-on-Hudson, the abandoned mansion of Henry Stauf. Police have expressed concern that Morales disappearance may be connected to a series of killings that have plagued the Hudson Valley this year. So far, four women and three men have been victims fitting a pattern of homicide, and several others are missing. Robin Morales has been missing for more than three weeks and seems to have vanished without a trace. She's the producer for the very popular and flamboyant "Case Unsolved" reporter, Carl Denning. Denning is said to be in seclusion in his country home, in Connecticut, since Morales' disappearance. It's rumoured that the two became romantically involved while working.....

ROBIN (in house): Carl, help me please, I can't get out!

CARL: What is this?

ROBIN: Help me.

-----

CARL (at bar): I have a rule about people I work with.

ROBIN: Oh?

CARL: Yeah, I don't get involved.

ROBIN: A-ha. I have the same rule.

CARL: I've been thinking of breaking this rule.

ROBIN: So am I.

Bar (another occasion)

CARL: I thought you liked me?

ROBIN: I just can't go on like this. People....everyone is saying that I slept with you to become your producer.

CARL: Well, didn't ya?

ROBIN: I can't believe you just said that. YOU of all people. I'm a
good producer.

CARL: You're good at a lot of things.

ROBIN: I'm sorry.

CARL: I'll tell you what, Ms. Morales, how about I just see you in the office on Monday.

ROBIN: No, I'll be in Harley-on-Hudson next week.

CARL: Wait a minute. Forget it. Maybe if I'm lucky you'll just become one of the missing people in Harley.

ROBIN: Don't say that: it scares me.

CARL: I already did.

Carl at house

[[ GAME BOOK BEEPS ]]

GAME BOOK: The blind mice is a good rap number.

CARL: Three....I can do that.

---------

Robin at coffee shop.

EILEEN: Just sit anywhere honey, menus are on the table.

What can I get for ya, hon?

ROBIN: Do you have any oat-bran muffins?

EILEEN: This isn't an oat-bran kind of place. We're big on chocolate donuts here.

ROBIN: I don't suppose you'd have any perrier water?

EILEEN: Let me check. Hey, Slim!

SLIM: Yeah.

EILEEN: We got any "perrier"?

SLIM: Fresh out of perrier, Eileen, had a big run on it this morning.

EILEEN: Sorry, hun. How 'bout a San Pallegreno?

ROBIN: Oh, that would be fine.

EILEEN: I'm kiddin' hon. The only water we got comes out of a tap.

ROBIN: I'll have a chocolate donut, and a coffee.

EILEEN: Hey, now your talking. Can I make that a Cappuccino?

ROBIN: Enough with the jokes, okay?

EILEEN: As unlikely as it seems, we actually have an expresso machine.

ROBIN: Okay.

EILEEN: Be right back.

-

EILEEN: Here you go. Be right back with the coffee.

ROBIN: You're Eileen Wiley, aren't you?

EILEEN: Who wants to know?

ROBIN: I'm Robin Morales, I'm a producer of Case Unsolved. The TV show.

EILEEN: Is that the one with Carl Denning?

ROBIN: A-ha.

EILEEN: I like him. Wouldn't mind serving him up a couple of specials.Well, what's he like?

ROBIN: He's a man.

EILEEN: Is he a man like, you can't live with him, or a man you can't without him?

ROBIN: He's both.

EILEEN: Aren't they all? So what are you doing in Harley?

ROBIN: I'm researching a story on the Stauf mansion.

You're the only person who's survived an encounter with the mansion.

EILEEN: Who told you that?

ROBIN: Anyone else has either disappeared, or died.

EILEEN: It's all just stories.

ROBIN: The newspaper said a guard dog tore your hand off. What really happened?

EILEEN: I have to get back to work.

ROBIN: I'm sorry if I upset you.

EILEEN: No, not me. I'll be right back with the coffee.

-----

Marie at motel.

CLERK: Hello, Marie.

MARIE: Where's Chuck?

CLERK: I thought maybe you were here to see me.

MARIE: You wish. Is he in his office?

CLERK: He's got a meeting in 20 minutes, he hasn't got time for you today, Marie.

MARIE: Just tell him I'm here.

CLERK: Hey, Chuck. Marie Wiley is here to see you. But you've got a meeting at.....okay, okay. Lucky number seven. Have fun.

--

Marie in motel room.

CHUCK: I've only got a few minutes, Marie. Come on Marie...let's hurry. Let's get in bed. Something wrong?

MARIE: Maybe I'm not in the mood for a quickie, Chuck. That's something you can do with your wife.

CHUCK: Ah, come on Marie. Chuckie can do a lot in a few minutes. I'll make those minutes seem like hours.

Ouch! Geez Marie. What are you doing? How in the hell am I going to explain that to my wife? If you're going to bite me, bite me where it doesn't show.

MARIE: Times up, Chuck.

CHUCK: Damn. How am I going to show up to this meeting with a fresh bite mark on my neck?

MARIE: Don't go.

CHUCK: Yeah, right. Like I can afford to miss it. I'm trying to run a business. It's about money.

MARIE: You can do whatever you want, Chuck. You leaving, Chuck?

CHUCK: Ow, no, baby.

---

Robin at river bed.

JIM: Yeah, it's blood.

ROBIN: I was just...

JIM: I know what you were doing. You were looking for the scene of a crime. You found it, you did good. For a TV person, I'm impressed.

ROBIN: Robin Morales.

JIM: Jim Martin, Chief of the Harley police.

ROBIN: Chief! Now I'm impressed.

JIM: Well, there's me, and one other guy and he's the co-chief, and that's pretty much the whole damn force. So what are you doing looking at blood on the rocks, Robin?

ROBIN: I'm researching a story. I work for....

JIM: I know, I know. Case Unsolved. But I understood you were doing a story on the haunted house?

ROBIN: I am, but I think there's a connection. I mean, with all the stories of death and disappearance, I think they might be all related. Don't you think they might be related?

JIM: No I don't.

ROBIN: Why not?

JIM: Because, the haunted house is a ghost story, and I don't believe in ghosts. But this is the real thing. This is murder, Robin. No ghost spilled that blood. And whoever it was hasn't been caught, so I don't think it's safe for you to be wandering around in the woods.

ROBIN: I can take care of myself.

JIM: That may be, but you're running an unnecessary risk. Stick to the ghost story.

ROBIN: What do you think happened to Eileen Wiley's hand?

JIM: It got bit off by a dog.

ROBIN: Do you really believe that?

JIM: Sure I do.

ROBIN: Well, I don't. I mean, how could a dog do that.

JIM: Probably one of those damn rot-wheelers or something.

ROBIN: Oh, come on chief. Were there any other bite marks on her? Did anyone find the dog? Did anyone find the hand?

JIM: I don't know, it was before my time. You'd have to ask Doc Thorton, he's the one that sewed her up.

ROBIN: Is he still around?

JIM: Barely. Doc's getting there, but he's still breathing. Come on, I'll drive you by. You can follow me in that snazzy little car.

ROBIN: Okay, Chief.

JIM: Call me Jim. It's kind of embarrassing being called "Chief" when there's nobody to be chief over.

ROBIN: Okay, Jim.

JIM: You know, you're not exactly dressed for trumping around in the woods. Maybe we should get you some boots. Maybe there's a TV producer designer line.

------

Robin in crypt.

ROBIN: Oh, god help me. Please help me.

CARL: Robin?

ROBIN: Carl?

CARL: Robin move. Get up!

SAMANTHA: Damn.

CARL: Damn.

SAMANTHA: Where are you, Carl Denning?

------

In front of Doc's

JIM: Well, here it is. Doc Thorton's.

ROBIN: Thanks, Jim.

JIM: Good luck.

ROBIN: Okay.

JIM: You take care.

ROBIN: I will. See you.

-

MARIE: Can I help you?

ROBIN: I’d like to see Dr Thorton if he’s available.

MARIE: If he’s “available”. Are you a patient of his?

ROBIN: No, I.....

MARIE: Fill this out.

ROBIN: Actually, I’m not here as a patient. I’m a producer of Case Unsolved. I’d like to interview him.

MARIE: What do you want to interview him for?

ROBIN: I need to discuss that with Dr Thorton.

MARIE: Hey, Doc. You awake?

DOC: (coughing) Yes, of course.

MARIE: Someone here from a TV show. Says she wants to interview you.

DOC: Well, send her in, Marie.

ROBIN: Thankyou.

MARIE: Sure.

-

ROBIN: Hello, Doctor Thorton. Robin Morales, I’m a producer of Case Unsolved.

DOC: What can I do for you, Robin?

ROBIN: I’m researching a story on the Stauf mansion.

DOC: Oh?

ROBIN: I’m trying to follow a storyline involving Eileen Wiley. The legend, myth, or story. It seems that she’s the only one who’s survived an encounter with the mansion. Anyone else has either died or disappeared.

DOC: A lot of stories about that old house.

ROBIN: I was told that you treated her the night she lost her hand.

DOC: Yes, that's true. I did.

ROBIN: What do you think happened to her hand?

DOC: It was bitten off by a dog, everybody knows that.

ROBIN: So I’ve heard. But did it really look like a dog did it?

DOC: I don’t know. Never saw a hand bitten off by a dog before. Never even heard of such as thing. Eileen is kind of unique that way. She’s a celebrity around these parts because of it.

ROBIN: But really, Doctor. What did it look like to you?

DOC: Robin it was a mess! A bloody mess!

ROBIN: I just think that there’s more to this Eileen Wiley thing than meets the eye.

DOC: Have you tried talking to Eileen?

ROBIN: Yes, but I didn’t get very far.

DOC: It was quite a traumatic time for her.

ROBIN: I know, I hate to be the one to bring it back up to her. It’s just that, she’s the only one who’s had any experience with the mansion who’s lived to tell about it.

DOC: She’s not the only one.

ROBIN: How do you mean?

DOC: Samantha Ford.

ROBIN: Who’s she?

DOC: The one that nobody talks about. She was there that night with Eileen. The two of them snuck into the grounds and broke into the house together.

ROBIN: Why wasn’t she mentioned in any of the articles?

DOC: Her family had a lot of influence. Kept her out of it. But if you think Eileen’s hand is a mystery, well, Samantha has been paralysed from the waste down and confined to a wheelchair ever since that night.

-----

Carl in house

EILEEN: Something’s happened to Samantha!

CARL: Who’s Samantha?

EILEEN: Can you help her?

CARL: I don’t know.

EILEEN: I have to get out of here, I’m scared.

CARL: Wait! Where’s Robin.....? Damn.

------

Eileen in coffee shop.

EILEEN: Hi hon. Want something to eat?

MARIE: Just coffee.

EILEEN: How’s work?

MARIE: Boring. Got a light?

EILEEN: You know, I don’t like you smoking, Marie.

MARIE: Well, like mother, like daughter.

EILEEN: I guess I got no one to blame but myself.

MARIE: I guess.

EILEEN: Marie, I hear you’ve being seeing Chuck Lynch.

MARIE: So, so who cares?

EILEEN: So I care. You’ll get a reputation Marie. I don’t want people calling my daughter a tramp.

MARIE: Well, like I said, like mother, like daughter.

EILEEN: Marie!

MARIE: Save it.

EILEEN: Marie!

MARIE: What!

EILEEN: You be home tonight.

MARIE: Maybe.
